The NHL is Back by 8th grader Ty D

The season of 2021 has been delayed to the pandemic but it isn’t gonna hold the season from starting. The first game for many teams was back on January 13th, but for some teams it started the next day. There have been many restrictions and a lot more consciousness but we have made it to the opening of the season. The 2021 season will bring lots of rivalry games and lots of enjoyment for the viewers.

The league has changed many things throughout the off season from the amount of games to the different divisions. There are now New divisions in the NHL due to safety restrictions and the places they are throughout the U.S or Canada. Canada has their own division, while the U.S has a Central, East and West division. There are many rules to this, such as they can only face teams in their division due to safety reasons. In the shortened season of 56 games, they will only be allowed to play 7-10 teams depending on the division. That also means that each team will play each other around 8 times.

As the season started to get ready this year there were many players who got traded, drafted and injured. Former New York Rangers star goaltender would be traded to the Washington Capitals to soon find out that he would not be able to play the season due to heart diseases. The oldest player in the National Hockey League would also get traded from the Boston Bruins to Washington. There had also been a lot of people that had picked up Covid over the offseason and had to miss some of the practices. The biggest problem was the Dallas Stars, who had 17 people in their organization receive positive Covid test results. That postponed the opening of their season.

There were a lot of high scoring games to kickoff this season in 2021. Many teams had scored 5 goals but the closest high scoring game was when the Washington Capitals had beat the Buffalo Sabers 6-4. The best game to watch was either the Rough high scoring Toronto Maple Leafs vs the Canadians or the close game that went into the shoutout that the Boston Bruins would win 3-2. This will be a fun and interesting enjoyable season to watch.

The 2021 NHL season will have its ups and downs but over all at least we are watching hockey again. There will probably be a lot of rivalry games this season due to the 8 games against each division rival which will be fun to watch. The Stanley cup will be claimed by the best, and the players are all fighting for it from day one.
